About the Author
Gage Greenwood grew up in Rhode Island. His mother was a poet, and his father a sports and film enthusiast. Their influence shaped his personality at a young age, nurturing a love for creativity and competition. After giving up on his dream of making it into the NBA, he began writing stories, screenplays, and poetry at the age of ten.
In his teenage years, mental illness began to take root in his life. With severe depression, anxiety, and OCD, Gage struggled to adapt, and lost sight of his dreams while he worked on getting through the day.
Without proper mental health support, his early adult years grew even tougher. Battling homelessness, drug addiction, and alcoholism, Gage sought creativity for healing. While he continued to write, he also tried a variety of other artistic endeavors, including acting and stand-up comedy.
In 2014, he began his sober journey, where he found himself writing more consistently. Two years later, his son was born, and Gage had a new purpose in life. Taking a full time job as the Vice President of an escape room company, Gage was able to foster his yearning for creativity, and this, in turn, helped him produce more fiction.
Gage published for the first time in October of 2021 with two short stories he wrote ten years prior at the early stages of his sobriety. Grackles on the Feeder and Through Flickering Lights, a Silhouette caught the attention of some passionate horror fans, and helped him build the community jokingly referred to as his cult. Meanwhile, he released his genre bending series Winter’s Myths in serial format. There, he built the foundations that would ultimately turn him into a full-time writer.
In June of 2022, Winter’s Myths released in novel format and earned accolades from top names in the industry. World Fantasy Award winning author S.P. Somtow called it, “Visionary,” and said Gage was, “One of the most original voices in this new century.” Horror legend Brian Keene called it, “Excellent dark fantasy that will appeal to fans of John Urbancik.”
Gage’s breakout solo horror hit came a year later with Bunker Dogs, winning him the Bookstagram Award for best horror novel. It continues to be one of his best-selling books. His next release On a Clear Day, You Can See Block Island, has over 1,000 ratings on GoodReads with a 4.0 star rating.
While Gage continued publishing more novels, he also wrote fiction for dozens of anthologies and horror magazines. His collection Levitating: Stories won the Haunted Minds Award for Best Collection.
Nick Roberts, author of The Exorcist’s House and Mean Spirited, said Gage was, “Arguably the most versatile voice writing today,” and Gage continues to prove that with each new release.
In 2025, he will publish his auto-fiction horror novel, We are All Dead, Anyway, about his time living out of his car in Mansfield, Ohio.
